Republic Square

This cozy square with its terraces, statue of Queen Victoria, surrounded by the Palace, National library, Casa del Commun Tesoro and Republic street.

The square has known various names, originally the name was Piazza dei Cavalieri and in the British period the name was first Piazza Regina and then Victoria Square.

Originally a statue of grandmaster Manoel de Vilhena stood on the square. In 1887 the statue was moved to Floriana and a statue of Queen Victoria was replaced to commemorate the 50th birthday of her.

Address and street / location can be found on our map, click on Guide in the menu bar and you will get a map with markers.
