Comino Boat Tour Tickets – Best Prices & Deals - Malta Travel Guide & Tickets

Why take a boat trip or excursion to Comino, the Blue Lagoon and Crystal Lagoon?

I live in Malta and regularly take boat tours with family and friends along Comino, the Crystal Lagoon, the Blue Lagoon and the impressive sea caves surrounding the island.

A boat trip to the Blue Lagoon (Maltese: Bejn il-Kmiemenis) is, in my opinion, one of the most enjoyable excursions you can do during your holiday in Malta.

It is an experience you will never forget: the crystal-clear water of the Blue Lagoon stays with you forever.

When the sun shines, the sunlight is reflected by the white sandy seabed, giving the water its famous turquoise colour. This natural phenomenon makes the Blue Lagoon truly unique in the Mediterranean.

Below, I have created an overview of the different boat tours and excursions.

Traditional excursions to the bays and caves around Comino, optionally with a visit to Gozo

The boat tours listed below are suitable for all ages, including families with children and older travellers. The excursions are educational, relaxing and active, with plenty of opportunities to swim, snorkel and discover the natural surroundings of Comino and Gozo.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Comino Boat Tour Tickets: Best Prices & Deals

Click a question to expand the answer.

What is the cheapest boat tour to Comino?

The cheapest options are usually standard day cruises or ferries. To compare current low-cost options, see the ferry tickets to Comino page.

How much do Comino boat tour tickets cost?

Prices typically range from budget ferry tickets to higher-priced cruises with extra stops or inclusions. Rates depend on duration, departure point, and what’s included.

Why do many Comino cruises have similar prices?

Many popular tours follow similar routes and durations. Price differences usually come from included food, drinks, swimming stops, or departure location.

Are cheaper Comino tours worth it?

Yes, cheaper tours can still offer a great Blue Lagoon experience. They usually focus on transport and swimming rather than extras like food or long cave visits.

What is included in budget Comino boat tickets?

Budget tickets usually include the cruise itself and a Blue Lagoon stop. Food, drinks, and snorkelling gear may cost extra.

Are food and drinks included in the price?

Some deals include food and drinks, while others sell them on board. Always check the inclusions before booking.

Which departure point offers the best value?

Bugibba and Marfa Bay often offer very competitive prices. Sliema departures are usually longer and slightly more expensive.

Is the Blue Lagoon access pass included?

Not always. Some tickets do not include the free Comino access registration required during peak season if you go ashore.

Are there discounts for children?

Many operators offer reduced prices for children. Family-friendly options are often listed on standard cruise tickets.

Do cheaper tours still visit the Crystal Lagoon?

Some do, but not all. Crystal Lagoon and cave stops are more common on longer or mid-range cruises.

Is booking in advance cheaper?

Yes, booking online in advance often gives you better availability and avoids last-minute price increases.

Which Comino ticket offers the best value overall?

The best value depends on your plans. For independence, choose ferry tickets. For sightseeing, choose a standard cruise. Compare all options on the Comino boat tours page.

What is cheaper: ferry or boat tour?

A ferry is usually cheaper than a full boat tour. It’s ideal if you only want transport to Comino.

Are there last-minute deals for Comino tours?

Last-minute deals are rare in high season. Booking ahead is safer if price matters.

Do cheaper tickets mean crowded boats?

Budget tours can be busier, especially in summer. Larger boats usually have more space even when full.

Can I stay on the boat to avoid crowds?

Yes, many travellers stay on board during the Blue Lagoon stop, especially during peak hours.

Are party boats cheaper or more expensive?

Party boats are usually more expensive due to included drinks and entertainment. See party boat tickets for details.

Is a private boat more expensive?

Yes, but the cost is per boat, not per person. For groups, private boats can be good value.

Are morning tours cheaper than afternoon tours?

Prices are usually similar, but early departures can sell out faster in peak season.

Does tour duration affect price?

Yes. Longer tours with more stops are typically more expensive than short transfers.

Is Gozo included in cheap Comino tours?

Some tours include a short Gozo stop, but many budget options focus only on Comino.

Are taxes or fees added later?

Most online prices are final. Always check the booking page to confirm what’s included.

Is snorkelling equipment included in cheap tours?

Usually not. Some boats rent snorkelling gear for a small extra fee.

Are refunds available on discounted tickets?

Refund policies depend on the operator. Discounted tickets may have stricter conditions.

Is it worth paying more for a cruise?

If you want caves, multiple swim stops, and a relaxed experience, paying a bit more is often worth it.

Can I upgrade my ticket later?
