Argotti Botanic Gardens Floriana
The Argotti Botanic Gardens & Resource Centre are part of the University of Malta.
In 1740, during the time of Grand Master Pinto, a Spanish knight of the Order of Malta, Bailiff Ignatius de Argote y Guzman, initiated this private garden as a place of leisure. There still a number of Baroque features to be enjoyed, such as Nymphaeum and the Summer Villa.

It became a botanical garden in the nineteenth century, when during that the time at University of Malta the Chair of Natural History was established.
The Argotti Gardnes, as a consequence of academic interest, houses the national herbarium and a Mediterranean collection of living plants, both endemic and exotic to Malta. The gardens are open to the public. There is a good collection of trees and shrubs, ranging from oaks to oleanders and cacti.
