St. Mary Magdalene Chapel
This lonely standing chapel on the edge of the cliff was intended for farmers who lived in the area. Information shows that the chapel was already in use in 1446. The chapel slowly fell into disrepair and collapsed in 1575. The chapel was reopened in 1646 and the reconstruction was mentioned in an inscription above the door.
In 1777, Bishop Gaetano Pace Forno stripped the chapel of its sacred character and stated a plaque above the door that the chapel did not enjoy ecclesiastical immunity. This was restored later. A replica of this plaque with the text "l'immunita ecclesias" is present.
In 1936 the chapel was struck by lightning; the damage was repaired.
The chapel was restored in 2005 and inaugurated in 2007.
Again the chapel was struck by lightning in 2014. The damage was repaired and 5 months later the chapel was reopened.
