Lower Barrakka Garden


The Lower Barakka Gardens have a fabulous view over the Grand Harbour and the breakwater.

The garden has a number of works of art, among others the monument dedicated to the first de facto British governor of Malta, Sir Alexander Ball (which is a prominent feature in the form of a neoclassical temple located at the centre of the garden) and a monument dedicated Winston Churchill.

The other monument is of the Maltese artist Antonio Sciortino, a sculpture commemorating the Great Siege of Malta of 1565. There are also a number of commemorative plaques.
