Delimara Lighthouse
This octagonal 22-meter-high lighthouse was built in 1955 during the British period. A constant red light was produced with lamps based on Olive Oil.
In 1896 the lamps were replaced by an optical system which flashed a red and white light every 30 seconds. The lamps worked on paraffin.
The function of the lighthouse was abolished in 1990.
Subsequently, the lighthouse was restored with the help of sponsorship, which was completed in 2013.
In 1990 the current control and surveillance station was put into operation, which was placed near the old lighthouse.
