Casa Bernard
The basis of this house is on Roman foundations and was originally a watch-tower. In the mid 16th century the evolution progressed to provide the structure of beautiful architectural characteristics especially the double-fronted facade and the Baroque elements which were added later contributed to change this old watch-tower to a Palazzo.
Casa Bernard is not a museum but a private family residence which you can visit.
You can get a guided tour on this recently restored Palazzo. During the tour you can experience how the noble Maltese families lived, inclusive of the local aristocratic traditions.
Also important pieces of furniture, paintings and art objects are shown which are in the chapel, dining room, the drawing rooms, the library, bedroom, courtyard and garden.
